Every year in October the Rotary eyes are focused on Polio. When Rotary took on this challenge to wipe polio out of the world, little did we realize we’d still be at it 50 years later. However, the end is so close, BUT it’s still “just a plane ride away.” We’ve seen how quickly Covid-19 has travelled around the world. Well, folks, that’s what we could be looking at with Polio. Right now, there are only two countries in the world that are seeing new cases: Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, if someone crosses paths with you somewhere in the world, you could bring polio back to your loved ones.

The community spoke and we listened! At a meeting of the civic action group Linden Together, a concern was raised that locals looking for work didn’t have a good single location to look for open positions at local businesses.

Linden had a great block party last Saturday night! Food, music, fun were had in large amounts. The bounce house was a huge hit, the band was great also. Trunk or Treat will be 31 Oct at 5:30, come out and set up a trunk!

The world is changing fast. Some see that as a reason for fear, while others see an opportunity. The most successful men and women are those who seize what life has to offer and charge ahead into the future. Those most worthy of admiration are those who not only become successful themselves but also open a door for the success of others. One of those Texas builders of the future was Eugene McDermott, co-founder of both Texas Instruments and the University of Texas at Dallas.
