As the clock ran down on the Legislature’s third special session, Texas House and Senate leaders exchanged barbs over Gov. Greg Abbott’s school choice bill and border security proposals, the Austin American- Statesman reported.
AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has opened applications for the 67th Texas Game Warden and State Park Police Cadet class, aimed at those interested in joining the next generation of elite state law enforcement officers.
Texas is one of four states to once have been an independent nation. Though only a short period in its long history, it has become a source of curiosity and pride for many. The last man to serve as president for the Republic of Texas was Dr. Anson Jones. While he guided Texas to statehood, his life was one of successes and failures.

In the twentieth century, major advances were made that eliminated many diseases and eased the suffering of countless individuals. The expansion of medical schools allowed many more people to be able to practice medicine and to spread its availability into underserved communities. With the desegregation of universities across the South, African-Americans could receive a top-rated medical education in their home states. Among these was Dr. Edith Irby Jones became the first African-American to attend a desegregated southern medical school and began a storied career as a leader in medicine in Arkansas and Texas.
