The Roaring Band from Tigerland set off for the legendary home of the Alamo on Saturday. Packed and ready to go, the students loaded onto charter busses courtesy of the administration and band boosters and were roaring and ready to rock the roof off of the Alamodome at the UIL State Marching Band Championship. The competition, held on Monday, Dec. 14, will be a historic event for the band as no one is aware of the band ever going to state. With busses loaded, the students were given a police escort from the parking lot of the high school and cheered on by all of their biggest fans. A sensational send off to an extraordinary event that the students and their band director, Ron Williams, will surely never forget.

It takes a village, or in this case, a community, to reach out to the homeless in these cold and Covid times. Thanks to the generosity of the Amity Study Club members and the residents of the Atlanta community, Cody Howard will be able to provide warmth to homeless individuals who are in need this winter. This is a real reason for the season. Merry Christmas. Pictured are left to right: Howard, Director of Mission Texarkana and Teri Lovely, President of Amity Study Club of Atlanta. Courtesy photo
