My grandfather Ennis Genitis Vaughan, pictured here in the later years of his life was born December 22, 1898 in Cass County. He died September 16, 1982 in Lone Star, Morris County, Texas. He was the son of William “Bill” Fredrick Vaughan and Virginia “Nettie” Antoinette Cook. He married Lucinda “Cinda” Susan Hedrick December 18, 1919 in Morris County, Texas. Reverend Anderson officiated. She was born March 26, 1903 in Denton, Denton County, Texas, and died July 19, 1972 in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas. She was the daughter of Thomas Alexander Hedrick and Lucinda Susan Grant. Both Ennis and Lucinda are buried at the Creekmore Cemetery. On the 1900 Census Ennis was listed with his parent but by 1910 both parents were deceased, and he was living with relatives. On the 1920 he was a newlywed listed as head of household and living with his wife and brother. WWI draft registration card describes Ennis as tall, slender, brown eyes and dark hair.
The Atlanta Lions Club participated in a tour of Chateau South (Brooks Mansion) as part of the presentation from owner Raul Saurez, who has taken the property and turned it into a b&b/wedding/event venue.
