Mission Atlanta, a ministry outreach of First Baptist Church Atlanta, opens its food pantry doors from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Friday. Mission volunteers such as Rex Henderson, John Humphrey, Phyllis Stanley and Mattie Chamblee give out food to eligible Cass County residents. City National Bank in Queen City hosted its Flags, Floats and Freedom event on June 30. The bank gave away maps of the hiking trails at Atlanta State Park, free miniature flags and lifejackets to kids who were present and also cooked hot dogs. Smokey the Bear and Bobber the Water Safety Dog made an appearance during the bank’s event in collaboration with Texas Parks and Wildlife.
