The early history of Linden - Cass County seat
Linden was established and named in June, 1849 by the Commissioners Court of Cass County, Texas. It was named after Linden, Tennessee, home town of Edward W, Story who owned the land where Linden, Texas was established and who offered a fifty-acre site for location of the county seat. Several more persons, including Jerry? Wood, an old settler, wanted this Linden named for their home town or Linden, Tennessee.
Tent revivals coming to East Texas
Mission America is a non-profit organization run by Shelby and Amy Crump with a desire to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. They will be hosting a tent revival at 6:30 p.m. nightly from Monday, Nov. 4 through Saturday, Nov. 9. It is free entry and will be located on 310 North Buckner St. in Atlanta.
5th Circuit Court removes judge from foster care suit
The federal judge who has repeatedly found Texas in contempt for not fixing its foster care system has been removed by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a three-judge panel faulting U.S. District Judge Janis Jack’s “highly antagonistic demeanor,” The Texas Tribune reported. The three also reversed the $100,000 daily fine against the state’s defendants — the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Family and Protective Services, which runs the foster care system.
