Vaccine remains limited

Texas will receive 333,650 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine for the week of Jan. 18. The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has instructed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ship those doses to 260 providers across Texas. That includes 79 hub providers that will focus on large community vaccination efforts and 181 additional providers as Texas vaccinates health care workers, residents of long-term care facilities, people 65 and older and those with medical conditions that put them at greater risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-19.
Grant opens hearts for foster children

Six years after the doors closed for good, the vacant hospital at 404 Kaufman in Linden is finally getting a facelift. A joint venture of Open Hearts Children and Family Services and Calabri Health LLC will result in a residential facility for foster care children, as well as a boost to the town economic base.
Williams honored at reception

Dr. Charlotte Williams was honored for her 29 years of service at Queen City ISD during a Retirement Reception at Morris Upchurch Middle School.
Passing the torch

Dr. Charlotte Williams introduced the Queen City ISD staff to their new leader, Mr. Darrian Dover, at a district wide breakfast. The QC ISD School Board approved Mr. Dover as the new superintendent at a board meeting. While the staff is sad to see Dr. Williams go after 29 years in the district, everyone was excited to meet Mr.Dover and begin this next chapter.
