On Saturday, June 20, 2020, Amelia “Amy” Lummis, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away at the age of 53 in Kerrville, TX.

Amy was born on December 31, 1966 in Linden, TX, to James and Emma Stewart. She grew up in Atlanta, Texas, and moved with her family to Saudi Arabia as an early teenager. She attended The Orme School in Mayer, Arizona before graduating from Atlanta High School. She earned her degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and her Masters of Counseling from Texas A&M Texarkana. While studying at the University of Texas, Amy was a member of The Omega chapter of Alpha Phi.

Beginning at a young age, Amy combined her most precious hobbies; friends and the outdoors. Her passion began as Founder and Owner of Camp Amy in Atlanta, Texas. Amy also loved to help people whether through her counseling practice in Kerrville, Texas or her days as a fashion buyer at Belk Jones in Texarkana, Texas. In recent years she devoted her time as the Outdoor Skills Instructor at Camp Waldemar.

Amy was known for her quick wit, love of crafts and animals, her infectious smile, her big heart and kind, compassionate spirit.

Amy was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Lucretia Thompson Stewart; sister, Emma Kathleen Stewart Handy; paternal grandparents, Mack and Kate Wommack Stewart; and maternal grandparents, John H. and Emma Jane Willis Thompson. She is survived by her husband, William Marsh Rice Lummis, Jr. of Kerrville, Texas; father, James Earl Stewart of Atlanta, Texas; brother-in-law, Dr. James Handy and wife Ginger; and four nephews: Alexander, Nicholas, Phillip, and Maximus of Bastrop, Texas, brother-in-law, Fred Lummis and wife Claudia, brother-in-law, Ransom Lummis and wife Isabel, of Houston, Texas and brother-in-law, Bradley Lummis and wife Gaylord, of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by many cousins and countless friends that adored her.

A memorial will be held on Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. at Camp Waldemar in Hunt, Texas.
