LONNIE DANE BURSON
Lonnie Dane Burson, age 78, of Linden, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at his home. Lonnie was born January 25, 1943, in Atlanta, Texas, to James Frank Burson and Mary Frances Johnston Burson.
Lonnie was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served during the Vietnam era.
He was a member at Lanier Friendship Baptist Church in Linden. Lonnie retired from Lone Star Steel where he worked as a millwright and maintenance supervisor.
When his children were young, Lonnie enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts and coaching girls’ softball. He was also a member of the Linden Volunteer Fire Department in his younger years. In more recent years, Lonnie enjoyed reading, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns football games, grilling outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Natalie Burson; his parents; two brothers, Sammy Burson and Larry Burson; one granddaughter, Hannah Roe; and his father-in-law and motherin-law, Frank and Pauline Cline.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rosia Cline Burson of Linden; one son, Chris Burson of Linden; one daughter, Karen Roe of Texarkana, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Frankie and Nancy Burson of Cookville, Texas; one sister, Beverly Nichols of Hughes Springs, Texas; one grandson, Aaron Roe; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha, Texas with Rev. Taylor Duncan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Shriners, or the Disabled American Veterans.
