Laura Beth Allen

April 8, 1971 - October 25, 2024

Laura Beth Allen was born on April 8, 1971. She was 53 years old when she died on October 25, 2024, less than two months after she was diagnosed with a rare cancer. She faced death with the same strength and courage she showed every day. Her greatest fears were for her loved ones, not herself. Laura’s spirit was moonlight on moving water.

In 53 years, her playful and tempestuous nature never faded. She was a visionary stubborn enough to move storms. In fact, she and her friend Jackie Smith might have accidentally summoned a tornado one night, dancing on the table and singing to 80s rock ballads. She and Jackie avoided dancing on tables after that, just in case.

Laura understood the importance of laughter and tears, and how often they come together. She helped us weather dark times, sharing with us the paths she had walked, the deep faith that carried her. Laura was a pillar of our family.

She left behind her mother, Wanda Fae Allen, her sister and constant companion, Carol Allen, her big brothers, Ronnie Allen and Oscar Allen, and her sister-in-law Venita McCellon Allen. She cherished her nieces and nephews as her own, as well as the grand-nieces and grand-nephews who called her Aunt Lala. She had many dear aunts, uncles and cousins, among them Sharon Lowery, who was not just her cousin but one of her most precious friends.

In death, Laura joins her father, Aubrey Allen, and her grandparents, Fleming and Annie Lee Waddill and Almer and Maud Allen. While we yearn for her, we are glad she is in their arms.
