Heaven seems a little brighter today, Martha Jo Cherry Coats, age 74, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 14, 2021 after a short illness. Martha was born November 11, 1946 in Atlanta, Texas to Loyce and Nettie Jo Bradley Cherry. She grew up and went to school in Atlanta. She was a meat wrapper by trade and under garment inspector at Henson Kickernick in the 70’s but her greatest accomplishments were being a mother and grandmother. She played piano and taught Sunday school at Thomas Street Baptist Church. She loved sewing, chocolate desserts and going to Walmart. She was her families greatest cheerleader and lead by example and loved the Lord. She never missed a grandkid’s activity, could whip up a costume in no time and always had a birthday cake made especially for you. She loved doing crossword puzzles and you could always find her reading a good book.

James L. Knox, Jr.

James L. Knox, Jr, 82, of Atlanta, Texas, died Thursday, September 9, 2021, in Texarkana, Texas, St. Michael Hospital from complications of the Covid virus. He was born on January 25, 1939 in Idabel, Oklahoma to James Leroy Knox, Sr. and Olean Anderson Knox.

Jimmy Dain “Uncle Bubba” McWaters, was born in Atlanta, Texas on November 21, 1972 and went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2021. Jimmy graduated from Atlanta High School in the spring of 1992. Jimmy was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas. He was employed by Wal-Mart Stores for over 26 years. Jimmy had been currently working at Wal-Mart on Fourth Street in Longview, Texas. Jimmy will always be remembered for his sweet and loving kindness to all. His beautiful smile will always be remembered by those that encountered him.

Virgil Neal Peacock

Virgil Neal Peacock, passed away in a Vivian, Louisiana hospital Friday morning, September 17, 2021. Neal was born to Virgil Lowell and Evelyn Langston Peacock, January 10, 1934, in the Huffines Community. He was a member of the Huffines Baptist Church and belonged to the Huffines and Watson Cemetery Associations. He was a member of the Bloomburg Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Queen City VFW. When his children were younger, Neal was a Boy Scout leader in Cub Scouts.
