A captivating covey of canines will strut their stuff April 27 at 10:30 a.m. during the Wildflowers & Wine festival in Avinger, Texas. All four-legged participants will be rescue dogs, brought to the festival by the Friends of Jefferson Animals (FOJA) organization. With hopes of finding each dog a forever home, Dina Carroll, FOJA admin-istrator, urges East Texas residents to attend the Rescue Dog Walk. “We have an overpopu-lation of strays in the South. Currently I have 70 stray puppies and dogs, and over 25 kittens and cats. We’ve taken in 11 puppies during the first week of April alone,” says Ms. Carroll. While not everyone can take in a stray canine, FOJA welcomes dona-tions, whether monetary or of much-needed supplies, such as dog or cat food. Visit the FOJA website at www.friendsofjeffersonanimals.org to learn about current needs and animals seeking adoption.
