The Cass County Genealogical Society will meet Thursday August 11, 2022. At this meeting C.C.G.S. Member Benny Prince will talk about the efforts, in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, of the Patterson Family to turn the town of Bloomburg, Texas and the community of Bright Star, Arkansas into a trade, business, and cultural center in Northeast Texas.

ATLANTA, TX – Atlanta Independent School District will host a Back-to-School student immunization clinic Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at Atlanta Primary School.
In 1972 Atlanta, Texas celebrated the centennial of the town with a week-long party. During the festivities a time capsule was buried with instructions to dig it up on September 9, 2022. In honor of Atlanta’s Sesquicentennial, the town is not only digging it up, but they are planning a party that won’t be forgotten any time soon.
Xzavier Huey from Hooks was awarded the Marilyn Hunter Thompson Nursing Scholarship of Excellence for $1,500. Marilyn, an Atlanta High School alum, was a nurse for 27 years until her passing on Feb. 19, 2020. Directors of the scholarship are President Steven Thompson and Verna Oates.
