Atlanta’s new head coach of the girls’ varsity basketball team, Jim Elser, invited one of his former players to host an area-wide basketball camp for incoming third to twelfth graders on July 1, at Atlanta Middle School.
Brigman P. Owens, or Brig for short, may not be a name many remember in these parts. Owens was born in Linden in 1943, but grew up and went to school in California. He had a great athletic career which spanned 16 years from junior college to the pros.
A Cass County man was found deceased at the scene of a motor vehicle crash on June 26. The scene was located on Highway 77, just west of Naples.
