Carter & Sarah Cannon

Carter C. Cannon and his wife Sarah (perhaps Latimer - not proved) emigrated to the part of Texas that became Cass Co. in October 1841 from Yalobusha Co., MS, where they had lived since the early 1830s. He patented his Cass land in 1856 and 1857.

Cass County Genealogical Society’s President Charlotte Evans presented The C.C.G.S. Editor, George Frost with a certificate from The Texas State Genealogical Society for winning second place in their “Best Journals In The State Contest”. George’s entries were the Cass County Connections Spring & Summer 2020, Fall & Winter 2020, and Spring & Summer 2021 Journals. These journals are published twice a year and contain a collection of articles about the people and history of Northeast Texas. DECA students advance

DECA district award winners and state qualifiers from Linden - Kildare DECA are: Camdyn McNutt and Jocelyn Serrano in Finance Operations Research; Presley Turner in Project Management Community Giving; Najeli Fuentes in Hospitality and Tourism Operations Research; Dylan Stanley in Franchise Business Plan; Brooklynne Dalrymple and Kyleigh Abernathy in Buying and Merchandising Operations Research; Austin Williams, Nicholas Lane, and Logan Grandmaison in Business Operations Research; and Anna Dudley and Breanna Funk in Community Awareness Project. Each of these individuals/teams researched a topic for a career category, wrote a written report of their findings and gave an oral presentation to a judge at the District Six DECA Career Development Conference at Region VIII on January 11, 2022. Each of these students advanced to the Texas State Career Development Conference Competition where they will compete on February 25 for the opportunity to represent Texas at the DECA International Career Development Conference Competition April 23 - 26 in Atlanta, Georgia.
