The wildflower trails are set to kick off again this year with exciting news. After a year off for COVID, they brought the event back in 2021. Every year residents, local officials, and businesses celebrate the beautiful wildflowers that pop up around the area.
Charles Brooks, Jr., originally of Atlanta, TX, and was currently residing in Dallas, TX, was on the run from authorities after cutting his ankle monitor. Brooks was arrested on April 22, 2021, for beating two-year-old Blake Sampson “within inches of his life and left unresponsive” while alone with Brooks in his Dallas home. Brooks has since been captured and sent back to jail on March 12, 2022, according to jail records. A relative of the child, Gary Sampson, reported on social media that “Brooks was picked up in a bar in Sherman.”
Dr. Adam Cox of Family Eye Care Clinic in Atlanta recently received the 2022 State of Texas Young Optometrist of the Year award. The presentation was made at the Texas Optometric Association’s annual convention in Austin, Texas.
Linden City Administrator Lee Elliott was the speaker at the Linden Lions Club on Thursday, March 10, replacing Paul Ellinger because of medical reasons. At the meeting, Elliot gave some updates about the street conditions, new businesses, water repair, and moving the RV park away from the grade school. He also brought attention to the new street signs. After the meeting, Elliot gave some additional details to the Journal-Sun. To start, Linden received some good news regarding business updates recently.
