Ransom to be sworn in

The public is invited to attend the ceremony for Travis Ransom as he is sworn into office as Cass County Judge on Saturday April 30th at 2 p.m. by 5th District Judge Bill Miller. The ceremony will take place on the courthouse grounds outside the historic Cass County Courthouse and light refreshments will be served.

Tax scam aimed at business owners

A few of the local businesses have reported a fraudulent letter to the sheriff ’s office. In the letter, the sender claims that the business owes a laughable some of money; in this case $175,173,862.23. The sender then gives an 844-number they can call to dispute the charge, in order to get the receiver of the letter on the phone. It should be noted that there is no address for the receiver to pay the bill if they wanted to. Similar scammers hope the receiver will call and to dispute the charge. Once they do, they will negotiate a smaller charge which the receiver may be willing to pay.

Linden town hall scheduled for May 3 on street repair

Before accepting the City of Linden City Administrator position in June of 2021, it was rapidly evident we had major street problems. Mayor Reynolds and City Councilors were adamant the new administration generate a plan to fix our street infrastructure. City staff and our consulting engineer began the process of an alyzing our street infrastructure and developing a game plan rapidly.

If you have been keeping up on the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun social media pages, you will have no ticed that the paper is beginning to post videos under the title of Journal Sun Media. A few months ago, the Journal Sun began to put together a studio with the intention of creating fresh content that will appear on our social media pages, and website. That became a reality about a week or so ago when we posted our first video.
