Your Atlanta Debate Team went to Elysian Fields Thursday and out of 15 rounds won 12 in Novice CX debate. This includes Ivy Alfaro, Braylie Durmon, Carlos Cortes, Tanner Cook, Michael Dubussion, Kennedy Harrison, Daisa Jewffley, Camden Baur, Emma Lanier, and Autumn Cook. Ivy, Braylie, Emma, and Autumn went on to compete at Hallsville this Saturday in Policy Debate going against varsity, Emma and Autumn finished 12th out of 28 while Ivy and Bryalie finished 17th, this is their 3rd debate ever! Michael Dubuission competed in Congressional Debate for the first time and finished 5th overall. Please help me to congratulate these fine young men and women!
One of our goals at AES is to instill character and grit in every student. This year we’re learning a new character word each month. August was “optimism.” September was “tenacity.” We kicked off October with “courage.” During our YES Assembly we awarded the GRITTY KID Award. These students were chosen because they were the best at putting those character traits into their daily lives. We are anxious to see who all will be our GRITTY KIDS each 6 weeks!
