In last week’s Journal-Sun

In last week’s Journal-Sun, we inadvertently left out a name in the 10 foot tall snowman’s builders. The cutline should have read... Five friends - Danielle Smith, Stephanie Garrett, Candace Nuckels, Matt Hinton and Kendall Nichols - took advantage of this rare occurance and spent six hours building a truly Texas-sized giant snow cowboy. Standing at 10 foot tall, the five had the help of a Kubota and several stepladders to place the higher tiers. Montana, the dog, “helped”. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. “We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.” That old saying you are only as old as you feel brought new meaning to us today at Wesley House Assisted Living. Our staff members Amanda and Robin wanted to sled down the hill for our residents. The residents were lined up in the building to watch. As they finished up, out walks Lenore Schall “I’m ready and I’ve got my boots on.” She wanted to sled.... at 86 years old! Not once, not twice....but three times. She said “I am having the time of my life at almost 87 years old.” This tiny woman created a memory that none of us will ever forget. Courtesy Photo

A&M-Texarkana to hold city-wide scavenger hunt for prospective stude

The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Office of Admissions will be holding a city-wide scavenger hunt for local high school juniors and seniors from March 8th through March 13th. Using the Goose-Chase app, teams of 1-2 students (juniors and/or seniors) from local high schools will receive two clues per day about two top-secret locations in Texarkana. Between the hours of 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. each week day (1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday) teams must solve the clues to find the secret locations and then must complete a task at each site. Teams who arrive at the checkpoints each day and complete the tasks the best will win points. On March 13th, the team with the most points will win The Eagle Hunt first-place prize.
