Over the past few weeks, residents of Atlanta were alarmed to discover discoloration in their tap water to varying degrees of severity depending on location. Many took to social media outlets like Facebook to voice their concerns on the matter of whether or not the water was safe to consume, with some insisting that the water was bad enough that they needed to purchase bottled water to use for drinking and cooking.
On July 8 it was reported that “Atlanta ISD lost longtime Rabbit Joe Wall after a battle with heart complications. Joe made a huge difference in the lives of the students and community of Atlanta, Texas as a fan, board member, and community supporter and will be missed tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.” Wall was on the Atlanta ISD board of directors. His obituary with more information on his life can be found on page 11 of today’s paper.
The lily pads were in bloom last weekend at the Caddo National Wildlife Refuge in Karnack. See page 5 for more photos of the area that used to be Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant and Thiokol.
