Lady Rabb comes full circle

Last Spring Atlanta ISD hired Melissa Waddell to be the next Lady Rabbs Volleyball Coach. The move completes quite a journey for Coach Waddell who graduated from Atlanta High School in the class of 1995. From there she went on to college in Marshall at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). Graduating from there in 1999, Melissa began a coaching career which has spanned 25 years. Now she returns to continue where she began with the Lady Rabbs. In addition, as she takes on the new job she will be inducted into the Atlanta Athletics Hall of Fame in a ceremony on October 11th prior to the Atlanta - Sabine football game kickoff. Along with Coach Ravon Justice, Coach Waddell will be a unique inductee by being still active in athletics.

Fall on the Square

On Saturday 28, 2024 Linden Main Street will be holding its “Kick Off Fall on the Square” social event to welcome students back to school. The football-themed event is a celebration of welcoming children back to school and will be held from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on the historic Cass County Courthouse square in Linden. There will be games for the kids, prizes, vendors, and food available at the event. Assistant City Administrator, Megan Kirkland, states that “this is part of the Main Street initiative to improve quality of life and to help spur the concentration of economic development in our downtown. LMS will host a multitude of vendors, who will have a wide variety of shopping opportunities and food, including ETX Smashed, as well as their local flavors in the Main Street District. From 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Linden Main Street will have a free Kid’s Fun Zone, featuring games and prizes. To complement these festivities, we will be holding our annual Truck-or-Treat festival (October 26, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and in late November we will be holding our annual Christmas tree lighting. We welcome all to attend and enjoy the festivities.”
