With the sun shining and comfortable temperatures, this month’s Second Saturday presented the perfect opportunity for residents and non-residents alike to shop local for that special someone. Indeed, shops were open and offered up the perfect gifts for those struck by Cupid’s arrow. Arm in arm, once shopping was completed, families and love birds could enjoy a wonderful meal at one of the many locally-owned restaurants in the lovely downtown area and then end the night with a stroll around downtown under the glow of a full moon and the dazzling light show of the historic water tower.
The first Thursday of each month brings with it something artistic. Starting at 6 p.m. at the Mary Daughtry Senior Center, resident artist Terri DeNatale host the Linden Sketch Group. From cowboys to musicians, each meeting brings with it a new and interesting subject for those in attendance to sketch. This month’s model was local musician Paula Fitts. Those in attendance had the chance to sketch Fitts who sat poised at the piano as if waiting for her cue to begin tickling the ivories.
Mark Epperson Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 donated children’s books to Linden Public Library in January. Library Director Sydni Goza smiles, showcasing the children’s books donated.
History “Records are important to any people. Having taught at Panhandle High School for the past twenty-four years, I realize more than ever the worthwhile importance of records. I sincerely endorse the prodigious task of collecting and perpetuating data relevant to the teachers and students of Panhandle High School.”
