Mark Epperson Chapter U.S. Daughters of 1812 members Kay Stephens, Nancy Belford, and Iva Rountree joined Chapter Vice President Tammie Duncan Blackburn (pictured in center) at a book donation to Linden Public Library. The books are on gardens, flowers, birds, and areas of conservation. Tammie is Texas Society U.S.D. 1812 Librarian and DAR National Vice Chairman of Conservation.
Built by the Harper family about 1916 and sold to Vincent Ferrell sometime in the ‘40’s, Linden Public House holds a rich family history, according to Jo Duncan, granddaughter of Vernon Ferrell.Duncan said Vincent Ferrell was a lawyer and when he moved to Tyler,his brother Wesley lived in the home for a short time. About 1954,Vincent sold the house to his first cousin—and Duncan’s grandparents—Vernon and Estelle Ferrell, who lived in the house for 20 years, selling it around ‘74. “We decided to host the Ferrell Reunion for 2022 and enjoy all of the memories the house held for the family,”Duncan said.“We started the reunions in 1990 and in 2020/20201 had to postpone them due to Covid.But this year,we were grateful to begin having them again.
The Atlanta Area Women’s Club held its annual prayer breakfast on September 10, 2022, in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church Atlanta. The club was entertained with classical and spiritual music from a talented violinist, Ethan Miller from Texarkana, AR. The speaker, Lindsey Thompson of Atlanta, gave a powerful message about God’s faithfulness in her life. New officers were announced, goals projected, and committee chairpersons appointed.
