Two separate fatalities on Hwy 77 last weekend

Two separate accidents were reported by DPS that ended in fatalities last weekend. The first happened in the early morning hours of September 11 when Karen E Wommack, female, 55, of Naples, TX hit a car on the side of the road. According to DPS, “preliminary investigation indicates that vehicle 1 was traveling westbound on SH 77. Vehicle 1 failed to drive in a single lane and struck a trailer that was disabled in the shoulder. This crash remains under investigation with no additional information available.” The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue and was pronounced by Justice of the Peace Kimberly Cullins.

Life-Chain prayerful event set for Oct. 1

Life Chain, a Christian pro-life organization, is having a silent, prayerful event Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 2 to 3 p.m. on the corner of S. Louise and W. Main Streets. Signs will be provided. Bring a lawn chair, an umbrella and water, if needed. Invite family and friends. Parking is available at Cornerstone Assembly of God, the AISD administration building and Hanner Funeral Home (provided there is no funeral). Lunch & Learn with Judge Ransom to be held this Thursday

An informative “Lunch & Learn” on tax relief with Judge Travis Ransom will be held at the Mattie Lanier Richey Center in Atlanta on Thursday, Sept. 21. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon, provided by Café Crema.
