This last season during the COVID-19 outbreak has been especially hard for some businesses and workers. However, with businesses opening back up and many of the mandates going away people are shopping and eating out like before. Year-to-date the comptroller is showing almost a 15% increase in sales tax from last year for Atlanta alone. Most likely, this has created the need for new workers.
In response to the COVID unemployment benefits program ending, seasonal worker changes and help wanted signs around the area the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce have decided to hold a Job Fair at the Mattie Lanier Richey Center on August 19, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no cost for the job seekers. For companies interested in participating, it is recommended to sign up as soon as possible, space is limited.
There has been a lot of news and concern about the Delta Variant over the last couple of weeks. As of yet, it has not hit our area. In Northeast Texas, there have not been any recorded cases of the Delta variant. However, in the counties east of our area there have been seven recorded cases. If the variants the Texas Health and Human Services is monitoring; only the Alpha variant has been reported. Statewide there have been 120 cases of the Delta Variant that have been reported.
Each year at Rowdy Haley’s birthday party, he asks his friends and family to donate money to his fundraiser instead of giving him birthday presents. This year at his birthday party he collected $153.05!
