McLeod Independent School District officials announced that the district received a rating of “A” for “Superior Achievement” under Texas’ School FIRST financial accountability rating system.

For VFW Post 6968 in Linden this news meant that they could not only reopen their canteen, but also resume the plethora of other services that they offer to local veterans. After enjoying a week of being open back in June, VFWs across Texas were forced to close their doors after Governor Greg Abbott issued a state wide bar closure due to the pandemic. On October 14, Abbott allowed bars to reopen at 50% capacity. While Abbott has added an 11 P.M. mandatory close time to that, the VFW carried on with its decision to reopen. After hiring two new bartenders and some light clean-up, the Post officially opened its doors Friday, Nov. 20 at 4 P.M. with a happy hour and drink specials.
