The Veterans Plaza in Atlanta was packed last Wednesday for the first annual Community Veterans Day Celebration. The event - sponsored by KAQC-TV, VFW Post 258, American Legion Post 5870 and Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun – featured music, free hotdogs and a variety of presentations.
Bowie County Emergency Operations Center reports 13 new cases since Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 for a total of 2,356 positive COVID-19 cases, with 88 deaths. The Department of State Health Services is reporting 1,699 recoveries. There are currently 569 active cases in Bowie County.
Head-on accidents caused by vehicles crossing the median on divided highway systems can be some of the deadliest. A new safety cable system being installed in the median between opposing lanes of traffic hopes to drastically reduce the likelihood of these type accidents.

Kellianne Lambert of Atlanta, Texas, was recently honored with the Presidential Endowed Scholarship at Southern College of Optometry. The scholarship recognizes a student with a competitive GPA, Optometry Admission Test score and demonstrated leadership and service. It comes with a $20,000 per year monetary award.
