On February 9, 26-year old Shawn Quinn was heading home to his parents - Dennis and Sharla Quinn - house after celebrating a friend’s birthday. He ran into the back of a semi at the 59 Exit off Loop 369. He was airlifted to UAMS Little Rock, where he remains in Surgical ICU. He has numerous injuries, including some brain bleeds that have stopped. They still do not know the extent of the brain trauma. Shawn did not have insurance. Texans from Lubbock to Longview shivered under single-digit temperatures as their week began, with snow and ice creating dangerous road conditions throughout the state. Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for all 254 Texas counties and urged residents to stay alert to changing weather conditions. The Texas Division of Emergency Management deployed resources from various state agencies to prepare roadways, assist motorists, remove downed trees and perform search-and-rescue operations if necessary.
