Most outstanding athletes have relatively short careers as age takes away their athletic skills. Atlanta High School football star Ted Thompson was unique in terms of his sports longevity. Beginning as a middle school football player in the late 1960’s Ted compiled an amazing career for the next fifty plus years.
Eagle Scout donates trauma kits

On Friday, Aug. 21, Garin Dupree presented the Atlanta Police Department with trauma/ first aid kits. Dupree is an Eagle Scout in Atlanta. His Eagle Scout project, called Project Thin Blue Line, was a 5K run that Dupree organized and held in downtown Atlanta in Feb to raise money for the kits so that every officer in the department would have one in case of emergency. He set his goal at 15 and ultimately was able to purchase 23.
Student in custody after threats made

A student was taken into custody at Queen City High School Tuesday, Aug. 18 just after 8 a.m. for threats he allegedly made online. The juvenile appeared before the Justice of the Peace at Cass County Law Enforcement Center in Linden and has been charged with False Alarm or Report—a state jail felony.
